Post Switching the shack PC to a Mac
on: January 28, 2012, 17:03

Hi all,

Currently I'm running a Win XP computer in my shack, and am looking to switch over to OSX. The Ham Shack Computer is the only PC I still own since I switched to Mac a few years ago.

I'm contemplating a Mac Mini for a shack computer, but was wondering is anyone knew of any Mac software that duplicates the remote base function of Ham Radio Deluxe. Failing that, has anyone run it in VMWare Fusion or Parallels on a Mac, and what issues if any have your run into?

Thanks in advance for any insight anyone may be able to offer.

Jeff,

Personally I don't care for HRD but it is an excellent remote control program.

I know a lot of hams are running it under Parallels and/or Fusion.

Personally, I have run it under Parallels for a test and it seemed to work fine. (except for it's normal resource hog ways!)
